Q&A with Jeff Spitz, Groundswell Films Co-Founder & Executive Director
About The Doc Talk Show
Every month Jeff Spitz, Sundance Film Festival honoree and Columbia College Chicago documentary professor, curates a fresh lineup of remarkable filmmakers showing eye-opening clips. The classic definition of documentary is “the creative treatment of actuality”. It speaks to the unlimited possibilities for non-fiction filmmakers to pick up new technologies and use them to invent new modes of storytelling. Jeff organizes each show around a theme and facilitates Q&As. Each filmmaker takes the mic and speaks directly to the audience. Screenings include works-in-progress, finished shorts, as well as teasers, trailers and music videos. Expect craft beer, delicious local food, a variety of short films and the lively art of conversation in a cozy room with just 50 seats.
Each show is filmed and edited by documentary film students from Columbia College Chicago’s The Doc Unit.
