The Doc Talk Show #9: Life Lessons
A Monthly Non-Fiction Film Showcase
Q&A with Filmmakers
November 30th, 7PM at Uncommon Ground
Chicago, IL––November 10, 2017 — The Doc Talk Show is a monthly live showcase of non-fiction films by diverse Chicago filmmakers curated by Jeff Spitz, Sundance Film Festival honoree and Columbia College Chicago Associate Professor. Every month Spitz chooses a theme, curates the shorts, casts the filmmakers and facilitates dialogues between audiences and non-fiction storytellers.
Spitz started The Doc Talk Show to celebrate a new generation of non-fiction filmmakers and to establish a friendly space for diverse stories in a city known for its racial and economic segregation. “We all know that Chicago is terribly divided and yet there is no other place I know with more creative people striving to bridge the divisions,” says Spitz who teaches documentary filmmaking and civic engagement. “The Doc Talk Show draws people into a cozy dining room, allowing all kinds of characters to break bread, socialize, discuss films and build new relationships through shared stories.”
